September Blog
So like always on both Tuesday and Thursday for the past two weeks mentorship hours were being taken care of. So everyday right after 3rd block I'd have to speed on the freeway going 110 miles per hour while cutting off truckers. haha just kidding a lot of the time I got to my mentorship relatively early in fact so early Alex would just tell me to just go get lunch. Anyways when I was there during my time he had me making official golden compass bags, which didn't seem to promising in my eyes but hey it killed time so I'm not complaining. On the last few days Alex had James teach me the basics of marketing (somewhat more effective than door to door marketing), which was basically marketing through email. It seemed more effective to me in a sense that more stores were being hit than just whatever was located in the area, but loses that 1st impression that could ensure a costumer. So that kept me busy for the next three days, and everyday when Alex was available he had me come in his office and ask any questions I had on the books I would use for research. Unfortunately, a lot of the times I didn't have any since it had been so long since my last research check. All in all this month was pretty reasonable in getting hours done wise. As the year progresses I plan on asking more in depth questions with Alex since they aren't as good as they could be right now.

Blog #6 second Interview questions
1. Who is your mentor and where do they work?
My mentor is Alex Weinberger and he works in an office doing insurance every day.
2. What five questions will ask them about their background?
The 5 questions i would ask my mentor are. . .
1. What other forms of education do you go through besides college to ensure the growth of your business?
2.When and how did the business (golden compass) start off and what challenges did you have to go through to be where you are now?
3. Did you always see yourself doing Insurance? If not what made you start doing it?
4. How do you plan on making Golden Compass better from here on out?
5. What are some basic strategies you go through to make sure success is being made, Ex. having your agents work together, passing your tests, or even making sure you don't fall behind yourself).

Blog #5 Project Reflection
(1) Positive Statement: What positive thing happen as a result of what you have completed so far?
- A positive thing I have been able to make of this so far is time management, and all of the information that is being jumbled up from the research we do every Friday. Time management is being applied here because since my mentor works weeks in advance if I don't schedule ahead of time I can pretty much kiss my mentorship goodbye. Same with all the research more than half the research I know now is thanks to the research I have gained over time.
- A peice of research that has helped me greatly is a book called personal lines. My mentor actually had me read the first 20 pages of it to educate me on the basics of what insurance really is.
- So far what has helped me in this senior project is the fact that finding research for insurance is a breeze since there is so many topics on it.
- What hasn't worked so far is finding time to do both mentorship hours, manage school work, a job, and applying for colleges at the same time. So then more than likely I will be learning extreme time management during this project.
- What is a potential question you would like to study this year? (working EQ)
- What do you plan to do for mentorship? If you haven't found a mentor yet, then discuss where you are currently looking and who you are talking to to find it.
